Drawing a green pepper today. Took some advice and picked a center point. From there I plotted out the sections around the top. Then want and filled in the details. Not good but it feels like progress.

Working on drawing the entire plant. Feels like moving backwards. Getting everything in proportion and “lining up” is difficult.

Working on drawing a Jade Tree. The “trunk” is pretty interesting to draw. Getting the angle the trunk is at is difficult. Getting the leaves I’m proper perspective and proportion is difficult.

Drawing round things is hard right now. Getting the shape correct is difficult. Also the lines the delineate the shape are harder to see.

When learning to draw consider using things from nature, not man made items. An orange or kiwi cut transversely can be very interesting material. To show depth vary the weight of your line. Heavier is closer thiner is further away.

Observed drawings, using living things as subjects, is a curriculum in design. A week into drawing, found living things around the house, my approach to breaking down what is being drawn transforms from creating outlines and copying lines to breaking down component parts. Observing how parts connect, hide one another and create shadows, that are visual parts which don’t exist, and are critical to the object as observed.
Individual drawn parts don’t meet up on the page space they way I see them which leades to questions about how they are really are. Seeing the related parts alters how things in a way that can’t be unobserved.

I believe this is the path of the designer.
